UK Manufactured Prohibition Signs

This is our category page displaying our full range of prohibition signs. These are normally used around the workplace to inform staff and visitors that some actions or activities are not allowed in either the whole premises or within certain dedicated areas.

Prohibiting something is normally a proportionate response based on the fact that it presents either a risk to health and safety or is simply not allowed by either national legislation or specific rules relating to an individual business. Sometimes, rather than a direct prohibition, they give an instruction such as Do Not Use, Do Not Enter or Do Not Drink

Prohibition signs are a crucial component for maintaining safe working practices and for making sure that businesses adhere to the health and safety in the workplace legislation that mandates them. Our prohibition signs comply with BS EN ISO 7010 meaning that they are ISO compliant and internationally recognised.

What do Prohibition signs look like?

These signs are designed to be high visibility and to attract attention. The idea is that rather than merge with the background, they stand out and get noticed. To this end, they are printed in red, white and black.

To easily identify them as prohibition signs they feature a bold red circle along with a diagonal red bar extending from the top left quarter down to the bottom right at a 45-degree angle. Most often, they feature a black pictogram inside the circle as a visual representation of what is prohibited but not always. Some rely on written text either at the side of or underneath the circle. Where there is additional text it is printed in white on a red background.

Materials and sizes available

The fastest and least costly option for these prohibition signs is to order from our standard size range between A3 and A5. Some products have alternative sizes available so please check the individual product description for your preferred size.

All of our signs are available as either convenient peel and stick vinyl or in a more hard-wearing and weatherproof 1mm thick acrylic. Acrylic signs can be mounted using strong adhesives, double-sided tape, or screw fixings.

Main Sub-categories of Prohibition sign:

1. Food and drink prohibition signs

Restricting food and drink to suitable areas is commonplace in many work settings. Preventing hazardous spills, maintaining a sterile environment or addressing possible cross-contamination between the environment and the food are the main reasons to display them.

2. No access signs

These signs let people know that they are not allowed to enter a specific area. There are many variations available including No Entry, No Thoroughfare, and No Admittance as well as more specific signs that restrict access to authorised or trained people only.

3. Machinery and fork lift vehicle prohibition signs

Machinery safety is a vital aspect of workplace signage. Prohibition signs are used to keep people away from dangerous machinery or to keep dangerous machinery away from people. Typical examples might be the No Fork Lift Truck sign or the Unauthorised Persons Not to Use This Machine sign.

4. Smoking Prohibition Signs

Our range of smoking prohibition signs features a variety of options. Whether your aim is to prevent smoking altogether, direct people to a designated smoking area or pass on instructions around the use of electronic cigarettes, you will find all of the options you need for your workplace.
